Imagine the nightmare scenario. Sarah Palin comes to power, while the Antichrist(Me?)
gets elected in Europe. He farts, she panics and nukes the planet in a pre-emitive stike
in god name. Destroying all life as we know it and instantly sending us back to the stone age.
What happens Next?
Your one of the survivors, but even the shops have been destroyed, all that's
left is you, the trees and some wildlife, you don't even have tools, clothes and
your bare hands as you realise natures reclaimed everything. (ok we skipped a few
generations)
Which brings us to your mission, should you choose
to accept it
Can you rebuild from the stone age, and get back to the space age, and get man on
the moon again? and how long will it take you? As right now, you don't even have tools,
can you even make fire? or are you relying on those matches, which have just
ran out? Can you build the equipment you need, find the rocks to
make the metals you need? and can you put it all together in time? do you even remember how electricity works? as those factories which churned the microchip out are long
gone, and how exactly does one make it from scratch again...
You get the idea
knowledge is lost, forgotten and remains proprietary and some poor mug, has to put
it all together again, lucky you, your tasked with rescuing civilisation, and have
to make it work, from scratch (and this time around, can you leave anything
out?) or do you need the knowledge to do other things...
Which brings us to this experiment, can we the people write instructions which will
show us how to build a space shuttle from nothing. hell you don't even have clothes
to wear, can you make those first? and what about food? oh dear, this is going to be one tough ride, as you pass the knowledge on, and hope someone gets it right as
we look to the million dollar question how long should it take, to get us
back on track? assuming we don't get side tracked in the interim
and do you even know where those rocks are kept? and where to go in the world to get them? As if you need religion (a bad idea), just think of that big astroid hurtling it's way towards you, as you focus your mind...
